So very happy and surprised that Macie Mae stood on her prosthetic! We are placing it on for 15 minutes, 2 times per day while keeping her busy with peanut butter and games using treats! If anyone has any fun brain teaser games, please let me know! All of this keeps her from focusing on the prosthetic. She even took one step but I was unable to capture that with a spoon of peanut butter in my other hand. 🙂
We do lots of food puzzles and games. All of ours involves moving to some extent- does Macie have to stand still?
Here is a blog post with some ideas: http://gear.tripawds.com/2016/06/13/exercise-young-recovering-tripawd-dogs/
We also have been using the Buster Activity Mat: http://gear.tripawds.com/2017/07/20/interactive-dog-toys/
Another favorite game is searching for hidden treats- we also do Nose Work.

thank you so much! Going to make a binder and place all of the great info inside. Will be good for dog walker, husband, and adult kids helping out! She will love all of this. As long as she is busy she doesn’t mind the prosthetic
oh and no she doesn’t have to stand still Karen. Moving is fine, and if she is distracted she will not mind it.
YAAAAAAAAAY FOR MACIE MAE!!! 🙂 Sooooo exciting!!
I know there are lots of mind game puzzles for dog that members have used in the forums. I’m soooo not a techie so I can’t tell you the right search words or forum to try and find them.
I know it was absolutely thrilling to see that step! Slow and easy, she’ll get the ha g of this!
