We are excited to be able to share Macie Mae’s crazy life and her journey as a tripod. We have gone through the long process of getting her a prosthetic device for her missing right hind paw. I will continue to add to the blog post by going back historically from the the first day we heard about her and her 6 siblings who resided at a rescue sanctuary in Willits, CA.  Our family adopted her at 4-months-old on New Year’s Day, 2017.  She is a Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix.  She was already missing her right rear paw when she and her siblings came to the rescue at 3- months-old.  The rescue sanctuary does not know how it went missing but know that it is from some sort of trauma. The veterinarians said it could have been from the umbilical cord in utero or could have been another trauma while she, her mom, and 6 siblings were fending for themselves. She received her prosthetic yesterday from UC Davis Veterinary School under the guidance of the fabulous Dr. Jamie Peyton. Her wonderful rehab vet Dr. Erin Troy and staff  in Walnut Creek, CA help to get her stronger and keep her pain free.  More to come along with photos! Wish us luck!
